Emmanuel

Dear friends,

Today, I want to write about a spiritual experience I had few days back. Every time I think about it, I feel very happy.

“God is with us”. Yes, that is the meaning of the name “Emmanuel”.  I had heard the name before but I didn’t know the meaning.

One day while going to a mall we hired a taxi. The guy was very polite and smiling. He was casually talking to my husband. Just then, my husband saw his name “Emmanuel” and asked him what it meant.  From the looks of it, I felt that my husband already knew the meaning. Anyways, the taxi guy broke into a big smile and said  “God is with you”.  At that moment something clicked inside me and I felt so good.  I felt as if God himself was telling me this.  There was so much positivity present in that one moment. I had goosebumps all over. A sense of calmness came over me. Those words kept echoing in my mind throughout the evening.  Even now I can feel that moment.

I am so grateful to the taxi guy for giving me that precious moment.  He could have said the meaning very casually or even with resentment, but he knew the power of his name and said it with true feelings. It may seem silly but such events leave powerful impression on our minds.   I felt as if I was in the presence of God in that particular moment.  Such events confirm our faith in God and make us believe in him even more.

I think it was an act of goodness on the part of the taxi guy as he created a wonderful moment for me, something that I will cherish for a lifetime.

Does it ever happen to you, where, a random simple act confirms that you are in the presence of God?  Do let me know if you have had similar experiences.

Love,

Rashmi
